Toyota is, debatably, the largest car maker in the world. The automotive output is prodigious, manufacturing and selling huge amounts of vehicles every year. There are city cars, saloons and hatchbacks, sports cars, sport utility vehicles (SUV) and even pickup trucks; many models being available as hybrids or fully electric alternatives. Buyers are spoiled for choice. The brand is of course also responsible for the famous Prius model that has helped to reduce emissions and aid economy.

Toyota Design

The Japanese brand offers a wide range but throughout their design process it is the customer that comes first. In a sense, according to their designers, the trend is to design vehicles that will form a part of the owners’ lives.

Their future plan is to promote practical and sustainable reduction in CO² emissions by utilising a full range of electric vehicles, including plug-in hybrids, battery electric vehicles and fuel cell (hydrogen) cars, like the current Mirai, which can be gassed up in five minutes and is arguably the environmentally friendly car on the road. Toyota aim to achieve carbon neutrality by providing the most suitable electric vehicles in response to global economic and energy policies, aiming for total carbon-neutrality by 2050.

Toyota Cars

Land Cruiser

The evergreen Toyota Land Cruiser has been the trusted off-road choice of drivers around for years. Still available and regularly updated, this big SUV is amazingly capable in difficult terrain, very well equipped as standard, robust and reliable, with a very well appointed cabin. There is a seven seat option too. Powered by a 3.0 litre diesel engine and with four-wheel variable drive, this great powerhouse in available to import from the UK to Kenya, New Zealand and other global destinations via the MHH International service.

There’s a new and highly sophisticated model coming in 2022 but for now the current model makes a great buy when all-round ability is called for. Recommended.

RAV-4

Available as either a plug-in or self-charging hybrid the very attractive medium-sized and family orientated RAV-4 is both refined and individual, fusing true SUV character with style and technology. For a vehicle this size, it offers a combination of high torque and low emissions ideal for town and country. Available to buy as a new or used Toyota, the interior is smart and well organised with a large touchscreen fulfilling most functions.

Geared and set up for comfort, parking is easy, especially as some versions have 360-degree surround view parking. There’s also a good selection of the latest safety features on board, although this applies to all Toyota vehicles. The regular hybrid version uses a 2.5 litre petrol engine teamed with an 88kW electric motor on the front axle while all-wheel drive versions also get a 40kW motor on the rear axle. This really is a car worth considering, backed up by the tried and trusted Toyota formula.

Hilux

This is the pickup truck that has all the creature comforts. It will tackle all the obstacles and terrain that can be thrown at it, yet passengers can still enjoy a fully-featured cabin with all the latest in infotainment and connectivity via a touchscreen. It is one of the best pickup trucks on the market today. The Toyota Hilux makes a great used buy for work and play.

Toyota offer a vast array of vehicles. There is no question that, as a manufacturer, they have one of the largest, all-encompassing ranges of cars available today.

Future Toyota

Toyota will be introducing a new sub-brand, codename, ‘BZ’ as part of a new era of Toyota car production. It will offer a range of next-generation battery-electric models that go beyond zero-emission because, as indicated in their future design plans, the vehicles will be are designed around the customer, further reducing the impact that cars have on the environment; changing the automotive future making driving smoother and more enjoyable.
