Audi SQ7
The Q7 model is the largest vehicle in the Audi SUV range but it is the SQ7 that puts the gloss on the model, adding some serious power for such a big car, reinforcing the ‘sport’ in sports utility vehicle.
The Exterior
Essentially, the latest Audi SQ7 is the same base car as the standard Q7 but adds S-specific details and a more rugged look. The grille and bumpers are different, marking out the model, and the wing mirrors have aluminium highlights. The rear view hosts four characteristic exhaust tailpipes and the underbody protection at the rear looks tougher.
Overall appearance is accented by Matrix LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights and dynamic front and rear indicators. The wheels are 21” cast aluminium alloys in 5-double V-spoke design in contrast grey with a gloss-turned finish. In the range-topping
‘Vorsprung’ trim level, the headlamps are upgraded to HD Matrix LED units including laser light, and the front end is augmented by Titanium-black highlights. Larger 22-inch 5-V-spoke aluminium star design wheels will make even more impact, optionally.
The Interior
Climb into the SQ7 and enter a world of luxury where everything works with typical Audi precision. Any plastic are soft-touch and of course the rest is further enhanced by leather seats and brushed aluminium trims. The ‘Vorsprung’ model gets full leather throughout and all versions come with an electrically adjustable driver’s seat and manually adjustable steering wheel (an electrically adjustable steering wheel is fitted to the Vorsprung edition).
The driver has total command of the road ahead thanks to the high-riding status of this prestige SUV. It’s big alright, but standard front and rear parking sensors, as well as a rear-view camera, help out in tight spots. Once again, the ‘Vorsprung’ gets a 360° bird's eye view camera and a self-parking system, the latter can be added to other models by way of an optional pack.
Obviously Audi feature their latest infotainment and technology system using two touch-screens with sharp graphics. A 10.1” screen on the main dashboard handles the main operations such as Bluetooth, connectivity, navigation and music, and there’s an 8.6” screen below it to adjust the climate control and heated seats, among other things.
As ever, the German brand’s Virtual Cockpit is standard, replacing conventional analogue dials with a 12.3” digital screen behind the multi-function steering wheel. As well as the usual read-outs, it can show detailed maps and infotainment information where they're easy to see. Again, ‘Vorsprung’ adds a heads-up display.
Driving The Audi SQ7
This is the powerful, spacious prestige SUV when up to seven people need to be swept across a continent. The SQ7 really is that good.
The latest model boasts a 500bhp, twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine up front. Older versions of this striking car retain 429bhp V8 diesel. This car is still available used but customers wishing to buy a new Audi SQ7 and import from the UK to Kenya, New Zealand and other global destinations will get the new V8.
And that’s not all: The SQ7 has quattro all-wheel drive plus four-wheel steering and ‘S-specific’ adaptive air suspension. Power and control, in short. Despite the massive weight, the SQ7 can now accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds. That’s faster than some top-end sports cars.
The range of seat adjustment makes it easy to find an ideal driving position for any size of person, while the big side bolsters of the sports seats hold the incumbent firmly in place during enthusiastic cornering. Passengers won’t be complaining either with a range of seat adjustment and heating options.
Buying An Audi SQ7
Reliability is generally reported as bullet-proof and, despite being a luxury people-carrier, the SQ7 doesn’t mind a bit when the going gets tougher. Clients interested in importing this fine SUV should get in touch with us here at MHH International and ask about full, integrated service.
