Audi
Audi is a German car manufacturing company producing a very wide range of cars; from saloons to hatchbacks and sport utility vehicles right up to high-powered sports cars. There’s a very wide model range in various sizes and guises.
The company have a reputation for producing prestige vehicles to a high standard with progressive design, being especially noted for fine, understated interiors. The range of models is extensive and the brand sells over a million units per year and is part of a thriving market for new and used cars.
Audi Design
Audi acknowledge that automotive design is about more than just about styling cars, although that aspect is of course vital. Included in the design process is the need to understand what consumers want in a world where car use is changing. Design must also these days incorporate a consideration for the environment and of sustainability. That’s why we see the new fuel technologies of electricity and hydrogen being introduced at an increasing pace.
Audi is pushing the boundaries of familiar design categories. For example, an SUV was once considered to be solely a rugged off-road vehicle. Audi have been instrumental in changing that outlook with their wide Q-designated range of highly sophisticated family-sized cars, now bringing sustainability to the fore.
It’s fair to say that Audi styling is understated but look more closely at the overall design. High technology lighting, subtle design cues on the exterior and technologically advanced interiors are routinely raised to new levels with every model year. Function meets form as equal partners.
Audi Range
As mentioned, Audi have a huge range of cars available, thanks to new chassis technology that variously underpins model groups. The ‘Q’ range of crossovers, for example, features smaller vehicles like the Q2 which offers compact dimensions, a distinctive, modern interior, the latest in connectivity plus state-of-the-art driver assist systems, making for an even more confident driving experience. Work through the range then right up to the mighty Q8, a full-blown highly capable SUV, on or off-road.
There’s more to come too because there’s a new Audi fleet flagship on the horizon in the shape of the forthcoming and very big Q9 SUV. Expect it to be packed full of technology, high-quality materials and some punchy engine options, including 3.0 litre V6 diesel, petrol and hybrid choices.
Fast saloons remain popular and the A8 is a luxurious, full size, four door model ideal for long motorway business trips. Some models within the catalogue may be VAT qualifying cars for business users.
Audi Performance
Performance in all areas is an integral part of Audi’s development programme. From the stunning power and amazing driving attributes of the V12 R8 sports car to the very popular fuel-sipping supermini town cars, there is something for everyone in the Audi catalogue.
Choose from small family cars, to luxury executive models, from compact crossovers to blistering sports cars. Whatever the primary focus, Audi will have the right car for the job. Spot the ‘Allroad’ designation which are higher riding, quattro variants, and don’t forget also the sub-divisions of the more powerful ‘Sport’ and ‘Racing Sport’ (S and RS designations) available throughout the model range.
Audi Technology
It seems astonishing that Audi Quattro technology is now forty years old. Obviously it has moved on since those early all-wheel drive days but, once experienced in challenging road conditions, drivers will not want to drive anything else. Quattro puts engine power fully onto the road. It makes all-wheel drive models safe and sure-footed where bad road conditions exist and, as ever, off-road.
But the technology doesn’t stop there. Audi’s ‘Virtual Cockpit’, when first introduced in 2014, instantly left all other car makers playing catch-up. It's the company’s name for the variable digital dashboard display that it now fits to many of its models in place of conventional analogue dials and which features a clear, precise display that can be programmed to show different information according to user preferences. That it works is not in doubt. It is a great feature.
Connectivity, infotainment and the whole array of of safety equipment technology that reads the road ahead are all offered either as standard or as options, depending upon need. The stated company aim is to make the information from today’s digital world convenient for drivers and passengers alike and to fully integrate the car into their daily lives.
This technology is as much an aid to our business and much as our personal lives. Many Audi models are suited to long-distance business travel with options for VAT qualifying cars.
Future Audi
Every model year seems to bring something new. Environmental concerns have meant that alternative fuels are beginning to feature in hybrid and fully electric cars, like the latest electric e-tron variants, increasingly across the model range.
