Swedish car giant Volvo were one of the first premium brands to fully embrace the electric car revolution. The latest news is that the company have updated and refreshed the EX30 sport utility vehicle (SUV), introduced a couple of years ago. It’s a compact, electric vehicle (EV) that has proved very popular. For new buyers the good news is that, for the upcoming model year, Volvo EX30 customers can look forward to new entry-level power-trains, elevated interior design, and an expanded ‘Black Edition’ offering.

A Charging Device

The EX30 will also be available with ‘Vehicle-to-Load’ (V2L) functionality, allowing the car to act as a powerbank and supply energy to other devices and appliances. The V2L adapter is not a standard fit but rather is available to purchase as an accessory.

At the time of writing this, the availability of  features and options  mentioned may differ between international markets and model variants as the revised versions are rolled out.

In addition, we learn, forthcoming software updates will introduce a more intuitive user experience. Several of the features will also be available to current EX30 drivers, free of charge, via over-the-air software updates, which is great for existing owners.

Big Improvements For 2026

The premium Scandinavian brand is making some big improvements to their smallest ever prestige electric SUV. By enhancing the user experience and introducing new premium interior options, the Swedish car giant are adding smart technology, like the possibility to transform the car into a powerbank for charging other electrical devices, the idea seems to be that this car will make everyday life easier and more enjoyable. We’re seeing this increasingly; the car as lifestyle accessory.

The Right Power

Additionally, the EX30 Cross Country range (which we featured early last year: see it here) is also expanding, with the addition of a ‘Plus’ trim level and a more efficient single-motor option. The Volvo EX30 introduces a new power-train that delivers 110kW (148BHP / 150PS equivalent) with a 51kWh battery and 211 miles of range.

This is the perfect entry option for the person who needs a premium everyday electric experience for the daily commute, especially in urban areas, increasingly at war with the internal combustion engine. Alternatively, for those who enjoy the occasional longer drive, the EX30 can be upgraded to a larger 69kWh battery for up to 296 miles of range. Together with the existing power-train options, these updates mean customers now have even greater freedom to choose the configuration that best suits their needs.

Intuitive Controls

A new UX (user experience) update improves access to the controls that matter most to the driver. A completely redesigned settings and controls system brings the right controls closer at hand, along with a customisable content bar that lets the driver use the space for predictive actions or the actions deemed the most important.

In addition, the Volvo EX30 is hardware-ready to offer ‘Vehicle-to-Load’, which as mentioned above is a technology that allows customers to store energy in the battery of their electric Volvo and use it later. This V2L function (V2L), not yet available globally, can transform the EX30 into a powerbank for charging other electrical devices, like an electric bicycle, or to power appliances such as electrical tools, sound systems and camping gear. The catch is of course that the buyer also needs to purchase the adapter that connects your car with the chargeable appliance. Further, the addition of V2L and the new UX are planned to be provided through over-the-air software updates during summer to new and existing EX30 customers.

New Designs

The EX30 now also introduces two additional premium interior rooms. The ‘Harvest’ interior room offers a warm light-toned aesthetic inspired by late Scandinavian summer evenings. It includes light-coloured woven recycled textile upholstery, subtly contrasting ‘Nordico’ upholstery made from recycled material such as ‘PET’ bottles, elegant dark flax décor and a black headlining for a contemporary, natural feel. The ‘Black’ interior room comes in a deep-black shade, where the smooth ‘Nordico’ upholstery with slightly contrasting seams is paired with natural, dark flax décor for a timeless look.

The market for premium entry level electric cars is growing fast, and the Volvo EX30 has been a leader in this segment since it was launched. This latest EX30 will further increase the EV models available to buyers as the electric revolution takes hold. To this end, MHH International offer a very wide range of electric cars to suit all purposes from city ‘run arounds’ to off-road capable SUV’s. We offer for sale new and used cars with all the various automotive power options from a wide range of prestige car makers for export to twenty-seven global destinations including New Zealand and Kenya.
