The now legendary motoring broadcaster and writer, the esteemed James May of Top Gear fame when driving an Alfa Romeo on one of his television shows, stated that Alfa Romeo cars have souls. Some cars are precise and refined. Some can be delicate or even hardcore but there is something in the long-established Italian heritage of this brand that adds that indefinable soupçon of something special. This is what James May referred to as soul.

This writer can attest to that, having owned a couple and driven others on road and track. There is a component of an Alfa Romeo’s DNA that makes these cars somehow desirable. That is really the only way to describe the sensation. The premium Guilia and Stelvio ‘four-leaf clover’ (Quadrifoglio) models set in race mode are really quite astonishing. Few cars drive and handle better than an Alfa.

Now there’s a treat in store from the Italian car maker with special editions coming on stream on the whole Alfa Romeo range: It’s called ‘Intensa’ and it makes these cars stand out from the crowd.

Alfa Romeo Junior Intensa

What is Intensa?

Available to order now, the Alfa Romeo ‘Intensa’ series, is offered across the entire Alfa Romeo range. The Junior, Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale all benefit from this special series which has been designed to celebrate the brand’s rich heritage. This new range-topping trim embodies the passion Alfa Romeo has for craftsmanship, with exclusive exterior and prestige interior finishes, plus the benefit of the latest in advanced in-car technology.

Each model features two-tone light gold Diamond Cut alloy wheels, Alcantara or leather upholstery, optionally, both with tan stitching; embossed Intensa logos on seats and an upgraded dashboard with premium Alcantara or, again, leather to complete the look.

Cutting-edge technology includes the Harman Kardon premium audio system, adaptive cruise control and keyless entry. Assistance and Technology Packs are also included as standard, which add highlights such as Level 2 autonomous driving (Giulia and Stelvio models), LED Matrix lights and connected navigation with virtual assistant. Performance is enhanced through Active Suspension on the Giulia and Stelvio and ‘Dual-Stage Valve’ electronic suspension on the Tonale.

Each model in the Intensa range brings its own unique take on the Alfa Romeo experience. The Junior Intensa stands out with its body-coloured Scudetto (the famous badge and unique grille). The compact car rides on eighteen inch ‘Fori’ Diamond Cut alloy wheels with light gold highlights and features a glossy black body kit with light gold Details. Inside, the cabin is refined with an Alcantara-wrapped central tunnel, fascia and door panels. The Junior Intensa is available in Tortona Black as standard and optionally in the fabulous Brera Red. The Junior ‘Ibrida (hybrid) Intensa’ will join the line-up later in 2025.

The Tonale Intensa elevates the driving experience with 20 inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels with light gold highlights, black calipers with a light gold signature, and Dual-Stage Valve electronic suspension. It also includes the Techno Pack and Harman Kardon premium audio system for superior sound quality. The Tonale Intensa is available in Alfa Black as standard, with Alfa Red and Montreal Green as optional colour choices.

The range topping Giulia and Stelvio (SUV) Intensa models further embody the Alfa Romeo spirit. The Giulia features 19 inch Diamond Cut alloy wheels with light gold highlights, while the Stelvio comes with 20 inch wheels. Both models proudly display the Italian Flag on the mirror caps and include Active Suspension. Their luxury interiors are enhanced with a premium leather dashboard and door panels and feature the Driver Assistance Pack. The Giulia and Stelvio Intensa come in Vulcano Black or Alfa Red as standard, Etna Red and Montreal Green are also optionally available.

What Is Quadrifoglio?

The name ‘Quadrifoglio’ is the brand name used by the Italian brand Alfa Romeo to indicate a high performance model. The four leaf clover design has been around on the cars now for 102 years; it is something of a status symbol. The Quadrifoglio is usually placed on the side panels of the car, above or behind the front wheels or on the front wings in the case of modern vehicles. The logo consists of a green four-leaf clover contained in a triangle. It is the hallmark of the most powerful Alfa Romeos. Current Alfa Romeo models to wear the Quadrifoglio badge are the high performance versions of the Giulia saloon and Stelvio sport utility vehicle (SUV).
