Official Sponsors for the Stand Up for African Mothers Walk 2015
Organised by The Chase Foundation and Chase Bank, their third annual #SaveaMum walk which raises funds to train midwives to rescue and prevent childbirth fatalities.
Everybody gathered at 8am at Ng’ong Forest Sanctuary to be coaxed into a really energetic warm up. By the time we set off we were dancing and in the mood for the day. Lead by the guest of honor the Honorable Njoki Ndung’u, over 3,000 people got to work and walked for all the mothers and children in our futures. People from all walks of life joined in, from the very young to the old everyone was united by one purpose. There were two trails 5Km for the children and 10km for the adults. We walked through really beautiful scenery and there was a celebratory feel amongst the walkers, a really good vibe.
In true Kenyan style, people were there to enjoy themselves and make the most of the experience. When we got to the end the celebration continues with plenty to eat and drink to re-charge ourselves. We were treated to fantastic entertainment from The Dagoretti Drummers and the headliners Sauti Sole there were plenty of people dancing the day away and some must have danced all the way home. We are sure there were a few tired legs, but the cause made every step worthwhile.
