The interesting Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been with us for a while now. It’s design is a little different for an electric vehicle (EV) and that’s no bad thing; but now the manufacturer has decided that what it really needed was more power. Now it’s got in in the intriguing shape of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. It is the ‘N’ that makes the difference and it looks fabulous in a new shade of blue, incidentally.

About The Car
This premium performance model stands at the forefront of automotive advancement, say the company, boasting remarkable performance figures and innovative technologies that redefine the EV driving experience. Producing an impressive 478kW (642BHP/650PS equivalent) and 770Nm of torque, the Ioniq 6 N achieves a breathtaking 0-62MPH (100 km/h) acceleration time of just 3.2 seconds (using ‘N Launch Control’) and will go on to a top speed of 257 km/h (approximately 160 mph).
Developed to meet the demands of modern high-performance driving, this prestige performance car features a revamped battery management system: the ‘N Battery’. Engineered for optimal temperature management, the system adapts to a range of track driving scenarios, whether drag, sprint or endurance racing. The integration of battery conditioning functions leads to higher and long-lasting performance, while optimised thermal management control and an increased capacity in the battery coolant heater significantly reduce the conditioning time. This ensures that the Ioniq 6 N is always ready to perform, with of course especial aerodynamics playing a critical role in the design where downforce and drag reduction are thoughtfully balanced for optimum performance. This is a long-winded way of saying that this car is quick off the mark.
Motor-sport inspired elements such as the swan neck rear wing and widened bumpers (fenders) not only accentuate its aggressive, track-ready appearance but also contribute to enhanced stability during high-speed cornering. Such aerodynamic efficiency ensures this car delivers both visual impact and exceptional on-road composure.

Sports Suspension
Beneath its sculpted exterior lies a fully redesigned suspension geometry and a re-engineered chassis, developed to elevate handling precision and road holding. This advanced set up enhances track-like performance while preserving the ride comfort expected in daily driving. With a lowered roll centre of gravity, the Ioniq 6 N also delivers greater high-speed stability and improved cornering grip, making it a versatile performer on all roads.
Further elevating the driving dynamics are the new stroke sensing ECS (Electronically Controlled Suspension) dampers. By integrating stroke sensors, the system allows for a wide range of damping force adjustments to suit varying driving conditions from everyday commutes to intense power driving. The result is improved ride quality and more predictable, responsive handling.
Should owners choose to take their car to a race track (and many do as can be seen routinely at the famous Nürburgring in Europe), The ‘N Track Manager’ empowers drivers to tailor and analyse their on-track performance like never before. This intelligent feature allows users to create custom tracks, monitor speed data, and evaluate performance through real-time ‘ghost car’ visuals and detailed lap time analysis. Time the school run! It is even possible to control drift characteristics.
Taken altogether, these driver-focused features demonstrate the Hyundai N's commitment to delivering a versatile and exhilarating driving experience. By pushing the boundaries of advanced vehicle control software, the Ioniq 6 N opens new dimensions in driver engagement for enthusiasts and everyday drivers alike. More grounded is the ability to charge from ten percent to eighty percent in 18 minutes on a fast charger.

The Drive
It’s well known that after a shaky start, electric cars are now an established part of our motoring life. They were always fun to drive but now a premium level of driving sophistication has been added as the magic ingredient. Thus the Ioniq 6 N redefines the EV driving experience through its in-house developed advanced vehicle control software, optimised to enhance every aspect of driver interaction with the vehicle.
For example, central to this interconnected experience is the ‘N Active Sound +’ system, which brings a dynamic audio dimension to the driving experience. Powered by a stereo sound source and performance-enhanced ‘Acoustic Design Processor’ it delivers an enriched sound stage that makes each journey aurally immersive.
Drivers can choose from bespoke sound modes tailored to specific moods and driving scenarios from the motor-sport-inspired ‘Ignition’ to the heritage-infused EV sound ‘Evolution’, and the futuristic sci-fi tones of ‘Lightspeed’. Each mode offers a captivating auditory experience. Where will we go next in the EV revolution?
But it is all about the drive: Two powerful fore and aft motors turn on the instant power and elevating the sense of performance even further is ‘N e-Shift’, Hyundai’s innovative shift control feature. By simulating motor sport-like close gear ratios, ‘N e-Shift’ heightens responsiveness and strengthens the driver's connection to the car. Now fully compatible with key performance features including – ‘N Launch Control’, ‘N Drift Optimiser’, ‘N Grin Boost’ (Yes, really: Think warp-factor) and N Torque Distribution, this system ensures a seamless integration of control and power. Adding to the sensory experience is the ‘N Ambient Shift Light’, a unique interior lighting feature that visually cues precise shift points for optimal performance. It seems this synchronised ambient glow transforms the cockpit into an arena where every gear change is not just felt but seen, further enhancing driver immersion.
Hyundai & MHH International
The Ioniq 6 in regular guise is a fine and swift car in its own right and the ‘N’ delivers the same only more so. The car joins a stable of premium vehicles (electric and internal combustion) from this established brand like the mighty Sante Fe and Tucson models or the family friendly Ioniq 5.
