Let The Sparks Fly! Aston Martin Go Electric | MHH International
Set for a limited production run of just 155 cars, RapidE will be Aston Martin’s first all-electric model. As such it will spearhead development of the brand’s low-emission and zero-emission vehicle strategy laid out by Aston Martin’s President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer. RapidE sees a continuation of the collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering who worked on the original Concept. Based in Grove, Oxfordshire, Williams Advanced Engineering will assist Aston Martin with the complex task of engineering integration.
The new EV is based upon the forthcoming Rapide AMR concept. At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show the fierce new Rapide version makes a striking statement. AMR takes technology from motorsport to further improve the sporting aspects of the brand gradually across the range. This striking model with its distinctive yellow stripe based on the Rapide S features a 592bhp (600PS) version of Aston Martin’s celebrated 6.0L naturally aspirated V12 breathing through a new quad exhaust system. It is the world’s fastest and most thrilling four-door, capable of 210MPH.
The Future Of Sporting Cars
RapidE also gets the AMR treatment and will deliver the four-door sports car looks and dynamics of the Rapide S but powered by an all-electric powertrain replacing the six-litre V12 engine. Aston Martin will release more information about the RapidE’s all-electric powertrain in nearer the time of launch. What buyers can expect is the instantaneous delivery characteristics of electric motors which in turn means the RapidE will offer a unique driving experience of a kind not experienced before in an Aston Martin.
The company believe that the sleek RapidE represents a sustainable future in which Aston Martin’s values of seductive style and supreme performance don’t merely co-exist alongside a new zero-emission powertrain, but are enhanced by it. The good old internal combustion engine has been at the heart of the brand for more than a century, and will of necessity continue to be for a few more years yet.
Essentially, RapidE will showcase Aston Martin’s vision of the future of motoring prestige style, to deliver a new breed of car that stays true to the ethos of the company and no doubt to the delight of customers.
As mentioned above, only 155 of these desirable future cars will be built. Well, they say that, but in the absence of any hard and fast facts on the drive, the performance, the price and, crucially, the range it still seems reasonable to assume that this first run will sell out fast and almost certainly more will be built.
