As far as automotive legends go, The name Jeep is right up there, celebrating its 80th birthday this year. The same astonishing off-road ability still applies but with this latest model the technology is very of today with enhanced safety features and even more agility on the rough stuff. This prestigious vehicle and other Jeep models are available to order from us here at MHH International.
Revised Technology
New this year, all Jeep Wrangler models will be fitted with the two litre 272hp Euro6D final petrol engine, working in conjunction with an 8-speed automatic transmission, featuring normal and low range modes. This new engine results in CO² emissions ranging between 243-251g/km, a small reduction over the previous generation; not bad given the outdoor nature of these robust vehicles. Meanwhile, the very much off-road focused Rubicon model emits between 261-271g/km.
To assist on-road driving, enhanced additional safety features are now included as standard across the UK Wrangler range. These include the addition of adaptive cruise control with stop and go, accident emergency braking and auto high beam.
Off-road driving has also been enhanced with a series of new features added to the Wrangler range as standard, making it even easier to go literally anywhere and do anything. Selec-Speed control, an off-road cruise control, allows the driver to maintain a steady speed during rock crawling and other types of low speed manoeuvring. This is a brilliant innovation, ideal for tough going. A selectable ‘tyre fill alert’ can now be set through the 8.4” touchscreen. Ideal for off-road adventurers who deflate the tyre pressures to add extra grip on off road courses when traversing mud and rocks, the system will give an audible warning when the desired tyre pressures have been reached.
Further safety features include blind spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear camera, front and rear parking sensors, Keyless ‘Enter 'N Go’, forward collision warning and advanced brake assist.
The Hybrid Wrangler
Marked by exclusive electric blue exterior design cues, the new Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid skilfully combines the most advanced technology with authentic Jeep spirit. Indeed, it will continue to appeal to off-road enthusiasts, courtesy of electrification that improves its legendary capability. At the same time, it is the ideal solution for those customers who are looking for an SUV to be used every day and are unwilling to compromise between freedom, fun and the need to reduce their carbon foot or tyre print.
Electric Power
The Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid is equipped with two electric motor generators and a high-voltage battery pack, with a high-tech turbocharged two-litre petrol engine and the well-proven TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The instant torque availability and the improved performance promised by the pairing of the turbo petrol engine and electric motor make the undisputed off-road champion even more capable and unstoppable on trails. It is off-road that 4xe technology takes the new Wrangler plug-in hybrid to the next level, offering four-wheel drive in full-electric mode for benchmark all-terrain performance and the pleasure of listening to the sounds of nature.
On The Inside
Model features vary but, as can be seen from the image, the interior is modern and functional as befitting this brand. The desirable 80th Anniversary model for example offers black leather seats with tungsten stitching and the 80th Anniversary badge. There’s also a leather wrapped dashboard featuring contrast stitching and classy Berber floor mats. Standard technology content across the range includes the Jeep ‘Uconnect’ navigation system via the 8.4” touchscreen, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch TFT display and a 9-speaker Alpine audio system with a 552W subwoofer, whatever that is.
