Early last year we posted a review of a special edition Jaguar F-Type (find it here) and noted that it was the end of the line for this great sports car. Well, in fact, it isn’t quite the end because Jaguar have announced a limited edition F-Type ZP model that really is the last of its kind. After some years the chequered flag, like the setting sun, is going down on one of the best and most reasonably affordable sporting vehicles around.
Just 150 examples of the Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition will, it seems, be the last of the internal combustion-engine (ICE) sports cars designed by Jaguar. Fortunately, this engine happens to be a 567bhp (575PS) supercharged petrol V8. The car itself features both specially curated interior and exterior details so it is a bit special. Failing that of course, there are plenty of other versions that, should the discerning motorist decide that the F-Type is just right for their next car, then MHH International can help supply the F-Type or a variety of Jaguar models via their comprehensive export service from the UK to Kenya, New Zealand, Ireland, the Caribbean and other global destinations. Please browse our website and get in touch for further information. Now back to the car:
About This Special Edition
Available in both coupé and convertible variants, not much has changed externally; just like its earlier sibling from years ago, the legendary E-Type, when a design is perfect then there seems little point in changing it. This was after all the World Car Design Of The Year winner in 2013.
Only two colour options are available for this speciality model, recalling the first race-winning ‘Project ZP’ E-types campaigned shortly after the model’s launch in way back in 1961: Oulton Blue Gloss paint with Mars Red and Ebony duotone leather interior, or Crystal Grey Gloss paint with Navy Blue and Ebony duotone leather interior. Both feature Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors (this really is a standout feature that marks out the car as a special edition) and Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds. unique interiors, wheel finish, and F-TYPE ZP Edition branding plus a ‘One of 150’ commissioning plaque.
The supportive seats grip and hold the occupants firmly although while the interior layout stays pretty much the same, the technology has moved on and the lucky owner will find all the latest high-tech within. The boot (trunk) isn’t massive but it will take a weekend bag without problem; just right for two. The car comes with plenty of strategically placed air-bags, a reversing camera, blind spot monitors, lane-keeping assist and the usual array of sensors.
Driving A Legend
With 575PS, 700Nm of torque and an all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) technology, performance is exceptional on all surfaces and in all weathers: 0-60mph takes as little as 3.5 seconds, while top speed is an electronically-limited 186mph making this ZP Edition a truly involving, engaging, driver-focused sports cars, with a distinctive V8 soundtrack. Other engines are available in previous models. The trouble is the V8 sounds so good that the exhaust note has become so iconic that it is archived in institutions including the British Library.
Over the years MHH International have been fortunate enough to drive the Jaguar F-Type extensively and it certainly delivers on the promise of its looks. Whether it is for your every day steer down to the hypermarket or for grand touring, this car’s behaviour is hard to fault. With the adaptive dampers set to Normal mode, all is serene, driving with suppleness and easy actions. Long distances are thus very agreeably dispatched, and the softer side of the car’s chassis tune makes it easy to travel over long distances.
Click the mode up to Dynamic and the suspension will stiffen up immediately and the steering will weight up to an almost perfect standard. This car has a level of on-the-road poise and crisp precision that delivers a level of body control and directional incisiveness, making the F-Type stand out from the crowd. It might not be as decisive as, say, the Porsche 911 but not many of us drive at ten-tenths all day, every day, do we?
Jaguar cars have long had a premium reputation, regardless of model type. Their saloons and SUV’s all have fine qualities to offer, but it is the F-Type that delivers the thrills. We shall mourn its passing when the time comes but don’t forget to check in with us here at MHH International to find out about model availability. Remember, from 2025, Jaguar will be all electric!
