The prestige British car maker Bentley has shown that it is possible to build a premium SUV (sport utility vehicle) with a legendary name as the now familiar Bentayga has established itself at the top end of the go-anywhere scene. The range has expanded over time and we now have the traditional V8, the Speed variant, an extended wheelbase version and now a hybrid. This is the one we will concentrate on in this article here at MHH International, a leading exporter of prestige vehicles from the UK to global destinations like New Zealand, Kenya and the Caribbean.
About The Bentley Bentayga
Go anywhere indeed: The current second-generation Bentayga has demonstrated its ability off-road as well as on metaled roads. It is a SUV that offers the ultimate in power, luxury and usability. The exterior adopts a muscular yet stylish stance that is unmistakably Bentley. The car features enhanced seating and trim, and benefits from a state-of-the-art infotainment system, an expanded suite of ‘My Bentley’ connected services and increased rear legroom for added passenger comfort.
This now established SUV raises the bar as the sector-defining SUV, combining the abilities of a performance-orientated Grand Tourer, a luxury limousine and a spacious family car enhanced with genuine off-road ability and real-world practicality. Bentley’s ‘Dynamic Ride’ is the brand’s (and the worlds!) first electric active roll control technology which has now been further enhanced, and offers the widest range of on and off-road drive settings of any SUV available. It really does work too. Watching this big and beautiful vehicle tackling the rough stuff is a sight to behold.
With the exception perhaps of the illustrious Range Rover, this is the car that established the idea of a luxury SUV, launched, surprisingly longer ago than we imagine, in 2015. The current model Bentayga builds on the success of that ground-breaking original with the latest on-board technology, added usability and an even more comfortable and hand-built cabin.
In these global times it seems a bit old fashioned to talk about home-grown industry but nevertheless this car is designed, engineered and handcrafted in Crewe, England and now boasts an efficient plug-in Hybrid power-train.
The Bentayga Hybrid
With the growing influence of electric assistance, the hybrid version of this premium SUV now accounts for a fifth of Bentayga sales and rising. Eschewing Bentley’s proven 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 or the powerful 6.0 litre W12-cylinder petrol engine in favour of a turbo-charged 3.0 litre V6, the hybrid combines the engine with an electric motor and a 17.3kW battery pack. The official miles-per-gallon figure is 81. More realistically, drivers can expect somewhere between 36 and 41 miles which is very good indeed for such a big, powerful car.
The latest generation Bentayga Hybrid is available at approximately the same base price as a regular Bentayga V8 while delivering the same level of comfort and luxury, yet with a quieter and more refined driving experience. The Bentayga Hybrid brings a selection of new technologies and connected car services, positioning the new product as the most technically advanced Bentayga to date.
The exterior and interior design makes it clear that this is still a real Bentley and not some imposter with an electric motor; with, ultimately, the intention that all Bentley motors will have a hybrid version and, ultimately, be fully electrified: But that’s the future.
Featuring the very latest on-board technology and an even more luxurious cabin, the current Bentayga is significantly revised both inside and out from any previous generation. The Bentayga Hybrid is available with a four or five-seat configuration and can be personalised further with a vast selection of optional content including the ‘Blackline’ specification, which these days is being ordered on more than a third of new car orders.
The Bentayga Hybrid offers the ultimate in electric luxury, with smooth and silent progress through urban environments, whilst having the grand touring capability to escape the city and explore further. Escape the noise of the urban conurbations and enjoy the refined and acoustically-isolated serenity of the cabin without engine interference, driving up to 25 miles of electric-only range, before physically leaving the city behind with the comfort of a total combined range of 430 miles. Imagine that; local trips of under 25 miles (which accounts for many of our journeys, day to day) being accomplished in style and silence. It’s just like using a small family runaround only, of course, with considerably more panache. Thus, in real world terms, the majority of journeys can be achieved completely in electric only, with zero emissions and delivering more benefits environmentally.
The Bentayga Hybrid is available to order in the UK, so why not check in with us here at MHH International to find out about availability of this SUV or indeed any other Bentley models like the beautiful Continental model.
