The Aston Martin Vantage
The Vantage is an enduring model in the evolving Aston Martin range. Available as a coupé and as a roadster, this popular model is a British-built sports car that works just fine as a daily driver but truly comes into its own when the open road beckons. The Vantage is great to just get in and drive; no specific reason is necessary.
The Vantage Exterior
That the Aston Martin Vantage is a head-turner is not in question. What may be is that it is rude to stare, but this car is just so beautiful to behold, from any angle. As a new or used sports car buy, the Vantage should be at the top of the list. Arguably, this is the best-looking car in the AM range; modern yet still retaining classic touches which make the car instantly recognisable.
The iconic Aston Martin ‘Wings’ badge features as ever upon the clamshell bonnet (hood), which is pitched towards the famous ‘vane’ grille for an aggressive look. Features like the three-dimensional S curve surrounding the meshed grille, lead back to the broad hunches which hint at agility and into the full-width slim rear lights and the delicate spoiler.
The Roadster convertible shares the same adaptive damping and stability control, torque vectoring and electronic rear differential as its coupé sibling. The tailored fabric hood features a fast, compact powered Z-fold mechanism ensuring rapid operation. In fact the hood is lowered in just 6.7 seconds or raised in 6.8 seconds an operation possible at speeds up to 31 miles per hour. There are very few premium cars with a faster or more reliable system.
For new car buyers there are personalisation options aplenty to make the Vantage truly yours. For example, hoods can be coloured, there’s a choice of 20” forged alloy wheels and of course, coloured brake callipers to suit.
The Vantage Interior
The interior is sumptuous and is well laid out and very well put together. Getting into that leather driving seat feels exciting. There’s an eight-inch touchscreen and all the controls for infotainment and climate control are laid out ergonomically with easily accessible switches for the parking sensors, hazard warning lights, engine stop/start system and dynamic stability control (three settings), among others.
The tactile, oblate steering wheel has large paddle gear-shifts that are satisfying to use. The seats are fabulous; firm and grippy and the driving position has low-slung racing overtones; sports seats are optional too on new car orders. The cabin offers plenty of space for two with 350 litres of luggage space, ample for a weekend away and accessed via a big, convenient hatchback. There’s a little more space behind the seats for bits and pieces too. Dynamic and focussed on performance, inside an Aston Martin Vantage is a special place to be.
Driving A Vantage
For a car to truly please a driver it needs a chassis with real finesse and this is where the Vantage scores out on the road. With phenomenal grip, fast responses and precise direction changing agility, the car is powered by a twin-turbo-charged 4.0 litre V8 engine with a raw and howling soundtrack when under hard acceleration. Over 500bhp are at the driver’s disposal and the Vantage will reach the benchmark 62mph (100kph) in just 3.7 seconds. Say it and you’re already there.
The V8 is an astonishing modern engine with an old-school feel, with strong response from low-down to make it an easy, relaxing car to drive at lower speed, especially through the smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic gearbox. With rear-wheel drive, owners report that the car is surprisingly composed and eager to go, rewarding a skilful pilot.
But Is It Reliable?
Yes. Servicing for the Vantage is straightforward. This is not after all some hyper-sensitive supercar, this vehicle can be maintained at normal servicing intervals. The Mercedes-Benz supplied twin-turbo 510hp V8 engine is a tried and tested unit, easily capable of strong performance. The British brand has a solid reputation for building cars with extreme care, detail and precision and has over the years established a wide fan base.
At MHH International we can supply new and used Aston Martin Vantage cars, or other models in the range, available to import from the UK.
