The Tesla Model Y

The Tesla Model Y is the all electric family SUV. The bigger brother to the model 3. Offering greater space and practicality to it’s smaller sibling. It sits between the larger pricier Model X large SUV and Model S saloon and the smaller Model 3.

The all wheel drive model Y is one of the best in an ever increasingly competitive sector. Rivals include the Audi Q4 e-tron, Mercedes EQA and Volkswagen ID4 Volvo XC40 and the similarly sized BMW iX3.

It’s long range model gives 315 miles on one charge making it reliable on long journeys. The all-wheel drive and agile accelerator make the drive surprisingly responsive for a car of this size. Although it prefers long straight roads to twists and turns at speed.

Step inside and you are met with the now familiar zen like cabin focused on the 15.4-inch touch screen. The roof it one enormous piece of glass rather than one split in the middle as with the model 3. The added light makes it feel bigger than the actual dimensions. Rear windows are tinted and rear seats are reclining for improved comfort. Driver and passenger seats are electric and front and rear seats offer heating.

Of course, much of the attraction is all about the tech. The Tesla controls are run via the app giving you remote control to climate, charging, speed, drive access and more. In the car, treat yourself to Netflix, play games, access your phone via Bluetooth for music and more. All this is on top of the usual controls you expect from your car. More details to follow in our full review next week.
