Introducing The New Hyundai Ioniq 3 Aero Hatch EV 

The popular Hyundai Motor company have introduced a new fully electric compact hatchback to their premium Ioniq range: This time it’s the Ioniq 3. This attractive model is designed to make electric mobility intuitive, comfortable and relevant for everyday needs. 

The Ioniq 3 combines a bold design rooted, so they say, in Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’  design ethos to deliver simple and easy-to-use technology combined with a spacious, comfortable interior, the whole embodying the Ioniq line-up’s mission to lead advanced electrification and connected living. 

Everyday Travel 

This smart EV has been developed to meet the needs of everyday drivers, young families and innovative customers who value functionality as much as style, so it’s great for urban and suburban use yet capable to cover longer trips too. Built on Hyundai’s ‘Electric-Global Modular Platform’ with a 400-volt electrical architecture, the vehicle delivers a balanced combination of efficiency, driving range and charging capability, designed to support everyday comfort and ease of use. Two battery options are available, offering projected ranges of more than 213 miles / 344 km for the ‘Standard Range’ version and over 308 miles / 496 km for the ‘Long Range’ variant. This option should fit in with most average driving needs. 

The Technology 

Technology in the hatchback is designed to simplify daily driving rather than add complexity. It is the first European Hyundai model to feature the ‘Pleos Connect’ infotainment system, based on ‘Android Automotive Operating System’, with 12.9 inch display or 14.6 inch display for intuitive access to vehicle functions, navigation and connectivity. 

Features such as the ‘Hyundai Digital Key 2’ enable keyless access via smartphone or wearable devices, while ‘Plug & Charge’, an integrated EV route planner and interior and exterior ‘Vehicle-to-Load’ functionality support a seamless electric driving and charging experience. Fast DC charging from ten to eighty per cent takes twenty-nine minutes under optimal conditions and is complemented by AC charging capability of up to 22 kW. 

A Premium Interior 

Despite its compact exterior dimensions, The Hyundai Ioniq 3 offers a spacious and flexible interior designed around passenger comfort. The design approach uses a ‘Furnished Space’ approach where elements are arranged like furniture to create a warm and intuitive living environment. A long wheelbase and flat-floor layout create generous legroom and headroom, while a large luggage compartment increases everyday practicality. The integrated ‘Megabox’ provides additional, cleverly concealed storage space beneath the boot (trunk) floor. 

Depending on specification, this attractive and useful hatchback offers features such as ‘Relaxation Seats’, heated and ventilated seating and carefully selected textile materials inspired, they say, by natural landscapes and, of all ideas, 1970s Italian furniture design, by which it is assumed they mean armchair-like, with materials including recycled and bio-based fabrics. More understandably, there’s a ‘BOSE Premium Sound System’, dual-zone automatic climate control and ambient LED lighting completing the refined interior environment. Subtle details throughout the vehicle augment the effect. 

Safety 

The Ioniq 3 is equipped with Hyundai’s latest ‘SmartSense’ advanced driver assistance systems to support safety and reduce driver workload. Key features include ‘Highway Driving Assist 2’, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Memory Reverse Assist, Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor, all supported by seven standard airbags. Projection LED headlamps with the brand’s ‘Intelligent Front-Lighting System’ and dynamic welcome lighting further enhance visibility and safety in everyday driving conditions. 

Overall, this is a smart and clever family car that offers a bit more than the average mainstream hatchback. A second-car choice perhaps? This new model is part of a growing Hyundai range that offers models to suit all purposes.
