It looks like Alfa Romeo have finally eliminated the gremlins that cursed their earlier cars. This writer spent a very happy week in the featured car and all was well, returning over 38 miles for an expensive gallon, although the company reckon you could get 58mpg. That presumes that you drive like a parsimonious priest. This frugality was courtesy of our decision to opt not for the desirable and fast Quadrifoglio version but rather a more family orientated version with a 2.0L diesel engine.

If Audi see the tiniest gap in the car market they clearly feel compelled to fill it. Buyers of the more enthusiastic style of small hot hatch are already catered for by the German brand's brilliant RS3. Thus it seems to me that to make, effectively, a taller version of the same thing seems wilfully pointless. So why do we at MHH International love the Audi RSQ3 Performance so?

Since around 1964 America kept the pony car to itself, refusing point blank to put the steering wheel on the correct side of the motor and ship it over the pond to the UK. Then, with a startling and unexpected turn of events in 2015, Ford began taking orders for a proper British version. Over fifty years of hurt and at last it was here.

Happiness can take many forms. It may be a first love, or the thrill of a winter storm or a sunny beach at dawn. It may also be something that thrusts you into another dimension of time and space.

DS is a famous motoring logo resurrected by the French brand Citroen to sell an up-market sub-brand. It worked and such is the appeal that a while back DS, like a coming-of-age child, broke ties with the parent and set out to conquer the automotive world on it’s own. There’s no doubt that with the smaller DS3 hatchback the company has succeeded, so much so that the model range has been increased and is now topped by the big, sophisticated DS7 Crossback SUV featured here.

Now that Summer is finally here in the UK, it’s time to roll up the sleeves and get out and about where the wild things are; and when going exploring there is no better choice of vehicle than the Jeep Wrangler.
08 June 2018
We must be approaching Summer, hence the flurry of cabriolets being tested here. Does the sun shine where you live and do you like to save money on fuel? This could be the car for you.

Located on the site of the legendary Brooklands circuit in Weybridge, Surrey, Mercedes-Benz World offers the chance to try the brand’s products. If those products happen to have the AMG badge on them then it would be rude to say no, wouldn’t it? In this case, a quick spin in the Mercedes AMG C63 Cabriolet was on offer. Not bad for a day out.

This is the car you need if you want to cross continents in a single bound. Nothing else comes close. A seven-seat vehicle that will carry your entire family and your dog, powered by a V8 twin-turbo engine that returns thirty-two miles per gallon or better; sounds like the ideal vehicle doesn’t it? But what if it’s a diesel? Does it matter? Meet the Audi SQ7. MHH International enjoyed a week in its company and this is what we thought of it.
27 April 2018
It was just over a year ago that we had our first look at this very special car. Finally, the opportunity arrived for MHH International to savour a proper evaluation. Was it worth the wait? You bet!

Spring is here, in the Northern Hemisphere at least, and it is nearly time to don that lumberjack shirt, roll the sleeves up, grab a 4x4 and head for the hills. Joining the ranks of Jaguar vehicles with one letter designations is arguably the best looking car yet. The new aluminium construction, all-electric I-Pace truly does put the British company at the forefront of the electric vehicle revolution. Volvo have unveiled the new V60, a five-door, mid-size premium estate. Volvo cars have always been technically impressive but have maybe lacked some excitement in design. The company must have realised this because the new V60 is gorgeous from any angle. It’s a versatile estate car (station wagon) that caters to the diverse needs and realities of modern family life.

TVR is a British sports car company, established in 1946, that in the past has produced some iconic, if fragile, sports cars much beloved of driving enthusiasts. Production ceased a few years ago and after the brand changed hands a few times TVR as a sports car maker are back with, literally, a roar.

Historically, Lexus cars have not generally taken the breath away with exotic design. With superb build quality this Japanese brand has impressed with its big, solid dependable saloons many of which are still going long after they first appeared but they are not all head-turners.

Such is the pressure of the global drive for cleaner air and less reliance on fossil fuels that, over the last few years, the car industry has looked urgently at the alternatives. Today, we hear much about hybrids and battery-powered electric vehicles but not so much about the other option – fuel cell technology.

The motor industry accolades keep on coming for Alfa Romeo's powerful Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the flagship sports saloon from the famous Italian brand. It was named, with good reason, the 'Best Sports and Performance Car' at a UK 2018 Car of the Year award. There’s a very good reason for this.

Love it or hate it, the Bentley Bentayga certainly makes a statement. The road it is unlikely that it will pass you without comment and you can be pretty sure that this V8 will pass you. It’s quick.

Every new Aston Martin that is released into the wild is an event. Somehow the British-based company produce cars that whilst being distinctive in their own right, still retain that Aston Martin look. Such is the case with the DB11. Originally, this striking car arrived with a 5.2 litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. Now, Aston Martin’s definitive GT is now available with a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine from Mercedes AMG, the company’s technical partner. This is the engine DB11 enthusiasts were crying out for and it has provided the opportunity to reveal more of the DB11’s sporting character.

Unquestionably, the latest 911 GT3 is pure Porsche. In a time when many cars are getting softer it is good to know that some car makers still consider their core aims. Porsche rightly claim that the GT3 bridges the gap between motorsport and road driving, truly reflecting the soul of 911. A driver’s life probably doesn’t get much better than this.

Over the last few decades the human race has become increasingly worried about the amount of natural resources we are sucking out from the ground and as a result the globe collapsing like a deflating football. Worse still, as scientific knowledge has grown, we have realised we are all choking in a miasma of our own making.

At this rate Jaguar will fairly soon run out of alphabet. First the F-Pace, then the I-Pace; now it’s the turn of E, as in E-Pace. The world is awash with small SUV’s and Crossovers right now so it was to be expected that the British brand would get in on the act eventually, and so it has proved.

The yellow car you see in our image is an original 2001 B5 Audi RS4 Avant, now part of that company’s heritage fleet. A couple of years ago and without even having to offer a cash bribe, Audi very kindly delivered this very car by special transporter for us to use for a day. It was a very great privilege. Since those early days the RS4 has gone from strength to strength. It is, without question, one of the best performance cars available at any price.

Sometimes, in every life a little rain must fall; so the saying goes. Well all we can say is that it had better not fall when the chance to drive a McLaren comes along. Fortunately it stayed dry when MHH International spent a morning in the company of the McLaren brand, always something to look forward to.

The electric car is nothing new. EV's saw some popularity from 1832 up until about the 1920s. With limitless quantities of oil available (or so we thought) to power the internal combustion engine, electricity was deemed to no longer be a commercially viable product as far as automotive propulsion went. The downfall of early electric cars then was due to the availability of petrol, the need to drive longer distances (just like now) and also the lack of horsepower at the time.

Unmistakably BMW by design with a sporty, urban look, the brand new BMW X2 is the latest addition to the BMW X model range. The German brand are saying that the car’s chassis and now ubiquitous xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system will deliver the ideal balance between sporting dynamics and efficiency in a smaller package.

Last year Italian motor maestro Maserati revealed the Levante. The idea of a SUV from the company that has previously given us such desirable and sexy sports cars stuck in the throat like a tenacious chicken bone. It just did not seem right. Well, they went and built it anyway presumably because all the other brands offered at least one of these leviathans of the road. Fortunately we need not have worried; it is very much a Maserati.
